I'm getting past the whole "direction selling out" thing. My tastes have always leaned to the more heavy side, but I was never at a point where it was all I listened to. Even when stylistically the bands I was in were careening into Venom territory, I was always the one who insisted that we do a pretty true rendition of Tiny Dancer. Good for Slayer that they've maintained a consistent sound for 30+ years. But better for Metallica that they've allowed themselves to grow musically, yet stay true to the heavier side of the spectrum. Except St. Anger. talk about your pieces of shit.
