I know a number of people on this board have a problem with her, but I think Joanna Angel sets the standard for a porn star bringing what is best about her on-screen work to the director's chair.

Love her or hate her, she is 100% hardcore on camera and settles for nothing less from the girls she shoots. She also doesn't take herself too seriously (even going so far as to make fun of herself in her productions) and doesn't get caught up in being a "director." She sets up good scenes and shots, then gets out of the way and lets the performers do what they do best.

The biggest offender of a female performer turned director letting the title go to her head (in my opinion) is Stormy Daniels. If you watch her Operation: Desert or Tropical Stormy flicks with the director's commentary on you would think she was Coppola breaking down The Godfather 1&2.

It's actually funny because she does the commentary with Evan Stone and Tommy Gunn, and while she's carrying on like Stormy Welles, Stone and Gunn are going for laughs and you can sense they are getting on her nerves at times.

i really like joanna angel as a performer mainly her early scenes before she became a director. ( now i believe she only appears in her own stuff that she shoots) dont really care for her as a director though. a lot of the girls she shoots for burning angel look like they smell just awful.

Most performers who make the leap to working behind the camera got their start directing the content shoots for their sites. Then they get the thought in their head that they want to direct and the position becomes an incentive for production houses to get a girl that is in demand to work with them exclusively without having to go the "contract star" route.

The biggest positive about stars directing and producing their own work is that they tend to put more into the work because it's their own money on the line. I'd say girls like Jenna Haze, Belladonna and Sunny Leone took their on-screen work to another level and perhaps added years onto their careers by going into business for themselves and raising the heat level in their respective performances.

I don't know where all of this technical precision is even supposed to fucking fit in within a world as rudimentary as fapping. I like high quality shit, but I don't require it. A good clip is a good clip no matter how crisp and clean the image is. There's definitely a ceiling when it comes to low quality, but I tend to duck when I walk under it, and I'm a short mother fucker.
