She works for a massage business that charges flat rates based on time. So, she's basically like a server, only she serves up relaxing muscle therapy, instead of drinks. She gets paid a certain amount from the company for each massage performed. But like tatooing, it's one of the few businesses where the tips are expected to be substantial. She gets about 15-20 in tips per massage on average, sometimes 40, sometimes 50, sometimes nothing.

But old people seem to always tip five bucks, regardless of wealth. That post was more of my continuing war on the elderly than it was to contribute anything profound to Tatty's solid thread.
