Why not? I think at the end the reason we have the kinks we have is a symptom of some kind of self loathing. Or some kind of psychic damage. I would get in trouble with the wife swapping groups we ran with because there was always someone who said "this is the way everyone should live". I disagreed because for the most part if you knew people's backgrounds at all you could pretty easily see how damaged we all really were/ are.
