My point is that Desert One and Bay of Pigs failed, while the mission ordered by President Obama succeeded. President Obama was unable to attain lasting political capital due to the sour economy, not his refusal to display gory photographs of the deceased binDickhead.
It wasn't successful due to anything he did, other than give the green light. I'll give you some on the economy, but I think you're discounting the shock a good portion of the country had at the refusal to display the pics. I also think that making sure he got a proper ceremony really make people wonder what this clown's priorities really are.
