I've been skin brushing my body for a month and most of my cellulite is gone. Yes, no matter how much I trained and lifted heavy weights, I still had some cellulite to deal with. My skin now looks tighter and feels so soft. This is for body only- not face. I think its great that Gia found someone who can get over her past. Gia seems kind of finicky and high maintenance so best of luck to the both of them as long as she keeps posting and I can harass her via PMs I'm cool with it.
The skin brushing thing sounds similar in purpose to using a birch whisk in a sauna or coarse turkish towels after a steam bath.

If you use a washcloth or heaven forbid a rag on a stick like AC and a clean soap like Ivory this seems unnecessary.
A lot of women, my wife included, won't use a washcloth for some misguided reason but a decent thick one with a soap that doesn't deposit oil on your skin should do the same thing. If I'm gathering right from these links the purpose is to exfoliate and allow the cellulite to "escape through your pores". So, clean your damned pores in the shower then if your skin is dry apply whatever you think you need.
If it makes you feel better to "skinbrush" then just acknowledge that and enjoy it, but you aren't doing anything medically beneficial to remove cellulite.

This is really old news. If you PM me your mailing address, Gia, I will send you some amazing Asian exfoliation tools. Of all the Asians, the Koreans are the most into having their skin torn away in the bath. In Japan, having a person savage your outer layer is known as "Korean scrubdown". They sell horribly-rough, probably-plastic exfoliation towels, mitts (a glove to get into all your crevices), and rag-on-a-stick contraptions. About a buck apiece.  Since you live in New York City, you might take your ass over to a Korean sauna (or jimjilbang), where you can not only get a scrubdown, but a profoundly sadistic massage called kyungnak. The "happy ending" is the part where they stop doing it.

I actually talked to a dermatologist about this today.
The verdict: Go ahead and do it if it makes you feel good but it is not something a medical doctor would suggest you do. Like Bornyo said, a mild soap, water and a wash cloth do the job fine.

Those loofa things that most girls use freak me out. They use them each day and it sits the rest of the day and night with accumulated bacteria, dead skin, etc and then it gets mildewy. UGH!!! Why shower with something dirty the day before? It's all about a clean medium textured washcloth everyday.
