Absolutely! I only use physical traits to define what a REAL black guy is. And your friend has passed the test. His enjoyment of classic literature and Heavy Metal only brings home what I have been trying to preach for years on this board: Every black person is an individual with his/her own desires, interests, fears, hopes, and dreams.
