See, I think the overexposure a few years back is what killed the genre. It was hot and different for a while, but pretty soon there were 12 different series, and Gag Factor 45, and it lost that edge. It worked when it wasn't everywhere, when there was that feel of "wow, now she is doing Throat Contusions 3, she's really fallen a long way. Must be desperate. This should be fun!"
It was also a lot better as a niche when the PWs didn't really know what to expect going into the scene. It's no fun when they take it all in stride and roll with it because it is their 12th blowbang video.
Now you see it in Vivid scenes and, as you note, it's become a cliche. "Quack quack".
