Mine. It comes from the mother. My mom told me when I was like 12ish that it was the dad's fault because he smoked pot. Raised by wolves, I think I was.

I don't know if he was a sucker or not, honestly. As I got older, he honestly seemed as if he was a basically good guy looking for redemption. I think he was trying to do what he thought was right. At the end of the day, the kid got a better life. He was raised on a working farm by a dad and stepfamily who loved him, taught him some independence and living skills as opposed to being shuttled from babysitter to babysitter and having and endless parade of "uncles" cycling through his life.

May not have been the decision any of us would've made, but I think it worked out for him.
