That happened to my dad. More than a casual friend. One of his cronies got accused to being a pedo going back like 40 some years. No one around him believed it...all a big misunderstanding and all that. My dad was even going to be a character witness for him for sentencing. The day before his testimony, my dad went to see him in County. The guy broke down to him and admitted everything, going back.I imagine it being like the Col. and Jack Horner visitation scene in Boogie Nights, Only longer. The victims, his motivations...everything. It tore my dad up really bad. For about 5 years he was overtly hostile to pretty much everyone around him. These two guys were in their 70's and knew each other their whole adult lives. It kind of knocked out the stool from under everything he thought he knew.
