It was a particularly hot and dry summer here. We had a burn ban on that was only lifted about two weeks ago. Last Friday it was seventy degrees so I bought two pounds of ground round and grilled/smoked eight 1/4 lbs burgers over charcoal and pecan wood. I also sliced two onions and grilled/smoked the slices with the burgers. Then I froze them. Today I brought one for lunch and heated it up in the microwave at work. The smell was amazing and filled the entire room. I had the burger on a kaiser roll with tomatoes, dill pickle slices, a slice of sharp cheddar, the smoked onions, lettuce, and yellow mustard. I also had a glass of fresh brewed unsweetened ice tea to wash it down with.
