I don't think the butane ends up as a component of the hash oil, but rather it helps separate the hash oil from all that weed, and you also end up with some butane that needs disposal.

My favorite drug, cocaine, is made using gasoline as the solvent. Apparently the use of hydrocarbons to separate out other ingredients is a staple of chemistry, or something.
