Stupid shit happened today. ACC added Pitt & Syracuse. Typical ACC/Tarhole-centric move to expand their conference in Basketball instead of football. No money in that.

Hopefully the next two teams they add will be football programs. Then, lets get a few "super conferences" and tell the BCS to fuck off.

I think Pro Wrestling is the only thing more crooked that college sports. That's why I can't get into college football or basketball. Shaving points, giving back wins, vacating titles, it's crap. At least the basketball side has a clear cut champion every year. College football is a cluster fuck that will continue to get worse.

I have to disagree because of what you see when two teams hit the field. Disregarding what happens before or after they kickoff, I think college football is one of the most exciting sports there is to watch. It's a team effort, can be won by an underdog, and would be very hard to shave points or otherwise manipulate outcomes.

The BCS, conferences, TV deals and whatnot and the exploitation of players is bullshit I'll grant you but when they tee it up and kick it off, there is little more exciting.

The point shaving comment was aimed at basketball.

With the Big 12 exploding, I'm surprised they didn't wait. Looks like Baylor and Iowa State may be joining the Big East with TCU. That's going to make them a lot stronger in football. While OK State and OU look like they're going to the PAC. Fuck Texas.

Baylor, TCU, and Iowa State will do nothing for Big East football. Adding them while subtracting Pitt, Syracuse and West Virginia (they are trying to like hell to go anyplace else that will take them) is a net loss for the conference football wise. Even adding the two Kansas schools does nothing for the football part of the conference.

I'm really pissed that a goddamn, fucking, uberretarded, pissing, shit throwing, temper tantrum between Texas and A&M is going to result in my school losing AQ status and super shitloads from their athletic budget. I'm going to be rooting for Texas to get ass raped with a parking meter wrapped in barbed wire by every fucking team that plays them in anything for all of eternity now and I will be laughing my ass off when the Longwhorns cause every team in the Pac 16 to slide into the Pacific Ocean ten years from now because they have never seen a dollar sign they didn't like.

It's better than what the Big East has now. Although there are no marquis teams. I could see K State finding an AQ conference that wants them but am less sure that Kansas could. Hopefully K State is in negotiations now. We're just along for the ride down here, we are hitching our horse to the OU wagon, I guess. I'm secretly hoping Texas will go to the SEC just to chap A&M.

Apparently the PAC 12 is not going to expand and Missouri is looking to go to the SEC. So everything is still up in the air.

I heard of a scenario where the Big East collapses, Notre Dame scrambles to get in the Big 10 (because no one else will take them w/o football), and Texas follows. I'm just surprised that people pretend that Notre Dame is still relevant. If producing Scholar Athletes is your goal, then you'll be lucky to see .500 every couple years.

No one is going to take Texas with their Long Horn Network. That's what killed the PAC 12 expansion deal. Certainly the Big 10 doesn't want a competing network.

Apparently Mizzou is out and West Virginia is into the Big 12. Not a done deal though.

And Rutgers and UConn are trying to get into the ACC. Boston College is trying to block UConn.

Oh it's done, it just might be delayed a year or so. The Big East has a clause requiring teams to give 27 months notice to leaving so WV won't be in until around 2014. The current Big 12 television contract has a clause voiding it if the conference can not maintain at least 10 members. This means the Big 12 will usual every lawyer necessary to keep Mizzou around until WV can break free of the Big East.

WV is splitting now, because they want out before the exit fee bumps from 5 to 10mill.

I think SMU would be ready to jump ship to the big 12 tomorrow. I'd rather keep the teams all regional anyway.

I'd rather see them remain regional too. Supposedly (according to Finebaum) there may or may not be some backdoor deals between university presidents in certain conferences to exclude them taking instate schools of conference members. If true this keeps Clemson and GaTech out of the SEC. We'd (we being Clemson) make so much more sense in the SEC even if we did get bitch-slapped in football by the top 2 or 3 teams for the next five years before we caught on. We could compete in every other sport except football right away and raise all their academic averages. Those are games I'd rather travel to see. I don't see your average South Carolina Gamecock fan heading to Missouri for a football Saturday.

College sports going like the pro games. Asses in seats is less important than eyes on sets.

They should just put LSU, Auburn, Clemson, Missouri, and Memphis in the same conference. Then convince Princeton, Grambling, and Jackson State to move up to 1A and get the University of Pacific to start up their football program again. The pre-season media day alone would be golden.

Who was ESPN lobbying for to play LSU about two minutes after their first game with Alabama? Was it Oklahoma State? Stanford? Oregon? No, it was fucking Alabama. The national media has been the SEC's personal teabag all damn season long. It is more likely that your statue of Bear Bryant will grow wings and do loop-the-loops over Bryant-Denny Stadium than there is of an anti-SEC bias in the media. Shut the fuck up and enjoy the national championship rematch you don't deserve.

As a corollary to your national media hypothesis I also offer up the fact that your player got beat by a guy that plays for Baylor. Not USC, not Ohio State, not Notre Dame, not Texas, not Oklahoma, not Florida--Baylor. You could count on one hand the number of people with a vote in the Heismann who could name one person before Griffin that played at Baylor since Mike Singletary graduated.

Take Richardson off of Alabama and they are still a 10-2 team at worst. Take Griffin off of Baylor and you have a 3-9 team at best.
