I figured this would happen eventually; I thought mebbe it would happen to a team over here.

Interesting story in as much as I am always fascinated by plane crashes. Unlike driving a car where you can be doing everything correctly and still have some drunk driver or blind/deaf/senile senior citizen or mindless texting teen plow into you, there really isn't the same type of risk when flying.

It really is almost always pilot error. Since I love to fly, I'm always curious to find out how the pilot of a crashed plane fucked up and try to make a mental note to never do the same thing.

Early reports seem to indicate that the plane flew into a tower mast. Of course I don't know much about the Russian equivalent of the FAA or how they regulate the placement of towers around airports in Russia, but that just seems like bad flying. Although I did read that the company who owned that plane was banned from flying in most of Europe because of shoddy maintenance issues. Still, short of a large chunk of the airplane falling off that was needed to control direction of flight, my money is on too much vodka.

Whenever I think of Russian aircraft, I think of the enema dungeon "blueprints" that Panzer has been sharing with us for years. And with that, I'm honestly surprised that Russian planes aren't falling out of the sky on a regular basis.

I too have a similar fascination with airplane crashes, and have noted that although the initial reaction is to blame a mechanical issue, in the end, pilot error is the real culprit. Spatial disorientation is a mother fucker.

When i heard Demitra was on there it surprised me , but now knowing Korolev and Karpotsov were on the plane really gets me sad . It's a damn shame , and it is miraculous that 2 people survived , simply amazing .

I'm not sure if it was on aol or yahoo but said the scene was pretty gruesome . People were watching rescuers pull bodies out of the water and were still buckled in their seats .

Just read one of the survivors died today , 90% of his body had burns . He was a player and was a local from their town . The other survivor was a flight crew member and is in the intensive care unit still .
