Interacial dating is more or less accepted in America (depending of course of geography) whereas 30 years from now a school, or police force will still not want to hire a potential teacher or officer who did an DP on video, where it is posted all over the internet.
If you know anything about porn, I'm sure you've heard the term "shot out" which refers to a porn whore who has done a job on her body, performing various shoots, and taking various drugs during her time in the industry.
There are jobs that neither fuck up your body, or stigmatize you and reduce your earning capacity. (Office worker) There are others which fuck up your body but which are well paying. (coal miner) A porn whore, mope, or other sex worker both typically fuck up their bodies and stigmatize themselves from future gainful employment. With the exception of dealing drugs, I don't know of any other "profession" which has such a negative impact on both health and future earnings.
You can play Foucault, and claim such stigma is going to disappear, but the social distaste for someone being a whore, is one of the stronger taboos in our society. Go read the blog by Penny Flame called Becoming Jennie, where she describes how being a whore fucked up her world view and familial relationships, even though she was more successful at making money in porn then most women.
To summarize, if I had a family member who asked me if they should shoot porn I would do my best to talk them out of it, and point out that they would be spending their career working with, some of the more loathsome human beings our society has to offer. (namely Chico Wang, Donny Long, Porno Dan, Khan Tution, Max Hardcore, ChristianXXX, Brandon Iron, Rob Black, Johnny Thrust, and about another 200 so mopes, producers, and suitcase pimps, who aren't literally worth the oxygen they steal.
Being adverse to a profession, because of the risk vs reward,is
different from not respecting someone because you have a moral objection to the action and then utilize that professions products and services.
I would not advise my niece to be a pornstar, not because
I have a problem with pornstars, but because I dont see the risk vs reward for her. I do not see the risk vs reward for being a coal miner or a marine, during war time, but I value their services.
Social stigma like I said is all relative and varies from time and location. There are some guys from good familys in college that dated strippers. twenty years ago if a girl had seven sex partners before marriage, dudes would think she was a whore. People being supportive of an act does not validate it The majority has been wrong about alot of thing in the past(interracial dating, homosexuality). It takes people pushing other people boundaries for us to come to an overall consensus on morality.
My problem with the xpt crowd is that they utilize the products of people, who they think are not legit. My niece just started law school,I advised her not to because of the lack of lawyer jobs, and high cost of law school. This does not mean that if we get into a dispute,Im going to call her bloodsucking lawyer. In addition to that Im not going call her up when I get in a legal
trouble, and then tell her I despise her once she wins my case.
