It seems like the internet really, really wants me to buy a flashlight. A high-powered, tactical flashlight. I constantly get ads for them. They always have names like x800 or A1000 or something like that.

Not that I talk about flashlights, but I just switched off this "feature" on my iPhone. Apparently FB's Messenger app listens in on what you're talking about for advertising purposes.

Also, I just bought a $900 German flashlight. 5000 lumens! The Lupine TL2 Betty. Apparently it's the brightest flashlight in the world. The name didn't make sense to me at first, but I guess its sister product is called the Wilma.

I use these little streamlights all the time. Very small and bright, run on a single AAA and are sturdy as hell.

Someone tried to scam me out of a good deal of money for a fancy chef's knife. They had it listed on eBay saying they'd sell it for a certain amount, but the listing didn't have a "Buy It Now" option, so I (stupidly) sent them a direct email offering to buy it. They sent me back a bogus eBay "Buyer Protection Invoice" with instructions to go to Walgreens, buy a $500 eBay gift card, scratch off the back of the card and email them a pic of the redemption code. Lol. Like eBay would ever give someone instructions like that. I forwarded the email to eBay's security center: spoof@ebay.com.

I have this and an original 10" chef's knife locked away and wrapped in moisture-proof paper

I'm trying to acquire a full set of kitchen knives, but I've had a few past sales cancelled by buyers who later changed their minds. Not sure whether I'll use them someday, store them away to pass along, or sell them as a package for an exorbitant sum. At this rate, it'll take another 10-15 years to get a full set.

Ryan's went bankrupt? I was wondering why I hadn't seen any of their locations on my recent southern travels. That's disappointing. They were several steps above Golden Corral.

Yeah. The circuit is a clone of the old boss hm-2 heavy metal in a cheap plastic housing. (Behringer just rips off old schematics) I already have an hm-2 but for $15 bucks it's not a bad spare considering boss hadn't made that pedal for at least 25 years. It gives you the infamous Swedish "sunlight sound" created by bands like entombed and dismember. That was a really long boring answer that no one cares about.

I bought a Dyson 7 years ago and it's still going strong. They are absolutely the best.

I think they somehow create dirt. I can't believe how much I just vacuumed up from my floor.

It's because it has more suction than other vacuum cleaners.

Went to the sale at Dolce and Gabbana and watched undnyc buy sunglasses and three pairs of jeans. $700. I bought nothing because the high stack sole creepers in the lemon print were sold out of my size and everything else I wanted was still very expensive and so ornate that the price still didn't merrit for a special occasion dress I'd only get away with wearing once. My bf's purchase was much more practical.

Went to my local hood rat row and ended up with quite the haul.

Great day yesterday. I'm embarrassed to say how much I spent but I went to Fanboy [comic convention] in Knoxville. Parking and the ticket alone were enough to blow my budget. I scored some neat Silver Age comics but the highlight was meeting and getting a fist bump from William Shatner and sitting next to Nichelle Nichols and having my picture taken with her. Both signed pics for me. Nichols signed one of her and Kirk getting ready to kiss the first interracial smooch on tv and Shatner signed a pic from his Twilight Zone appearance in "The Gremlin on the Wing" He signed it "There's something on the wing" for me. Really cool friendly dude. Nichols was super gracious and friendly. What a treat to meet them. I've never been a celebrity hound but yesterday was a once in a lifetime chance for me. Other celebs there were Barbara Eden, Lea Thompson, Catherine Bach, Dawn Wells, Tom Wopat, Dean Caine, Verne Troyer, Ric Flair, Kevin Nash and a slew of others I can't recall right now. AWESOME FUCKING DAY.
