I hate to say it, but these are the sins of the father coming back on you.
You cannot tear families apart, destroy a people's history and sense of place, emasculate their men, and then essentially leave them alone with NO repayment of what was taken and in fact resentment for having to own up to your evil deeds. Resentment that you further took out on us as we tried to move along despite not being really "free".
So yeah. There's gonna be repercussions. There is gonna be payback. Because many of us are broken. Families are broken. Fathers MIA because they don't know what being a man really is (because slavery taught us that being "men" gets us punished) ...and mothers & grandmothers raising boys cause that is all they know.
It's a mess. And you helped make it.
See that's why it's never going to get any better, Tritone, because you don't actually understand what the problem really is.
Slavery taught you this, Trite? When was it exactly you were a slave? Or is this a generational memory thing? You don't know how to be a father. Then read a fucking book. How long until "you" are able to get over slavery? Will it be another 150 years? 300 years? More? Ever? Will there ever be a day that "you're" able to take responsibility for "your" actions and inactions?
Frankly, I reject your whole notion, Trite. Descendents of slaves raise their kids right, are great husbands and providers, struggle and work and live and do the right thing every single day. Somehow they're able to overcome the obstacles of 150 years ago.
