Somewhat unfortunately, I have all too much experience. I also have knowledge because, as coincidence would have it, I work in a field associated with health care.

I also cringe when people talk about harder drugs when it is obvious that they have no idea what they are talking about.

Addiction is something about which there are so many opinions, yet so little knowledge.
