The Calgary Stampede is the largest party in the city for 10 days each July. It attracts well over 1,000,000 visitors each year and it’s been going strong for 99 years.
I visited today, the last day, to see the Chuckwagon races. 4 teams compete to win $100,000 in a Dash for Cash race. It’s pretty exciting!

Meh. Not too big on rodeo. Wouldn't mind a steak at Carvers though.

I doubt they get their steaks from retired rodeo bulls.

No but retired rodeo bulls is where Brandon gets his milk.

I am relieved to report that only 2 horses had to be put down this year. I think it was 6 last year. People love brutal blood sports.

The only complaint I had from Carvers was they didn't have a Honey Brown from the Big Rock Brewery, only the Traditional Ale. A small complaint to be sure.

Not that I have anything against rodeo (a guy I went to high school with qualified for the National Finals three times in bull riding) but Calgary Stampede reads a lot better than Brandon Gets to Stare All Day at Men in Chaps.

You gotta admit that would be really funny.

He did have a hard time chaps checking there, since he was getting a lot of glare off all the belt buckles he was eye level with.

i think it's the only reason he mentioned the stampede.

Stampede = midway rides = sweet young things dressed in barely-there summer outfits.

Big Rock make good shit. Surprised there aren't more microbrews in Alberta. Although I guess Big Rock are getting to the point where they're not so 'micro' anymore.

Calgary also has the Wild Rose Brewery.

Never had that, will keep an eye out for it next time I'm passing through.
