Just did a bunch of research. Canada is very very fussy about any kind of past issues no matter how old, Felony or Misdemeanor. There must be exceptions about it and of course you could be dishonest at the border. But my understanding is they have access to pretty much all of your records of anything in the US (as in if your DUI was in Bolivia it probably wouldn't be an issue).

I sincerely doubt it's a blanket rule or that it isn't flexible somehow. I have more misdemeanors than I have fingers and nobody has ever looked twice at me (being white can't hurt).

Anyway you didn't say anything about driving to Alaska anyway.
