People keep bringing up this scene so I deigned to see what the fuss was about, put some real time into this thing. I watched and I paused and I rewound as I sat naked and oiled in a Samadhi-like state. At one point I had people at the door and there I was, breathing like Vader.

It's a small-scale masterpiece about voyeurism, movies, and the limits of perception - including what we think we can know about people from observing their behavior. The idea that it marginalizes or minimizes what she is as a human being.. is illusory. That's reading into it and its a real asinine way of looking at life. And truth be told I've seen hot dog eating contests that looked way more demanding physically.

They share precious hours together at her place, and she spends part of them in a drugged slumber which puts her at a disadvantage, OK. I'll give you that, that much I will give you. It's an unconventional relationship. It's intense, intimate, unbalanced, mortifying - but also touching and oddly sweet.

There's also a heavy Black Swan vibe here, there's fire in her eyes, like she's going to own every shot and everyone around her will pay the price.

Max in particular seems to build up steam in private. It has nothing to do with Who's nice and who isn't. It's show biz.

Vagina is the new golfcourse. It's where business gets done.

We see in the film she isn't in it for the money. She's in it because she can't stop.

But if there's an obvious injury to her here or anyone feels hurt by watching her then maybe we can talk about how beautiful she is regardless of the The Horrible Thing She's Been Through(tm). So let's airbrush that stuff out and let's look at what's in her heart and what's in her mind and not what's on her face. Beauty and intelligence. Like Kristen Stewart you can see that there might've been a little damage but she's still very Pretty.
