C'mon, man. I expected better from you. The word has its "power" because there are actual evil acts associated with the word. And conjuring up the word validates and legitimizes those who participated in these acts.

It's like someone coming up to you and saying they are glad your relatives died in concentration camps or something. It is that offensive. Like I said, I don't know what it's like to be a Jew or some other group that others have dumped on. But I'm not going to dismiss someone's genuine disgust for a word just because it doesn't hold the same sway over me.

backdoorman -- someone calls you a hillbilly. But you know that no one has KILLED you or your relatives just because you are "Hillbillies". But it hasn't been too long ago when I could have been dead JUST because I am black. We're talking less than a century. It is not THAT long ago. So no talk about .. "oh, everyone group has had their rights trampled on, etc..."
