Remember, the D.A. is the one that made the decision to file, not her, and the court is that one that was grossly incompetent in handling private documents, not just once but repeatedly.

When this started she probably reasonably assumed that the state rape shield law would not allow Bryant's lawyers to probe issues in her past unrelated to the charges. Well, the judged threw that protection out, released her name, released her private medical records, and in general appears to have totally lost control of his court.

The other thing is that I gather she has a different personal attorney now than before. This one may have given her a realistic preview of what Bryant would do with no rape shield law and with a judge unwilling or unable to keep a tight grip on the proceedings. I don't blame her at all for wanting nothing to do with it.

If anyone owes taxpayers their money back it's the incompetent trial judge, along with the rest of the judiciary for changing the rules so drastically after the charges were filed.

The group most affected, though, will be future rape victims. Bryant's entire strategy to this point appears to revolved around witness intimidation, and that strategy was permitted and worked.
