Loved Venom. They were the real deal, or at least acted that way. Pretty nice guys when they were coked up, tho.

Satan- Alone in the Dock.I loved this song. Great band.

I moved from my little country town to Seattle in 84, thinking I was ahead of the curve because I was into Motorhead and Queensrych. Went into Easy Street Records in Bellevue because that was the home of the Queensrych story and discovered Kerrang magazine and imports. Very overwhelming. I ended up buying Mercyful Fates's Melissa album. Not my favorite, by any means, but I've always had a soft spot for MF and good King Diamond. For my boy's first "real" Trick or Treat, I face painted him as King Diamond. His mom was kind of confused as to who King Diamond was, and my evasive answers drove her to google him. I was in trouble.

Metal Church was the absolute shit in my group because they were kind of local. Super nice guys. At the time you'd meet lots of people who were on the verge of not quite making it. Signed to a little label, touring beyond their geogrphical reagion (if not another continent). Making meager living from being in a band. But definitely not rockstars. Egos are a funny things. But these guys were very nice and had no problem with sharing their Absolut and weed.

Manowar was by far my favorite band of that era. Superior musicianship, blood and guts songs. Good stuff. They're still pretty huge in Europe.
