Possibly the best player the Giants ever acquired via trade, DE Andy Robustelli, died.

He was one of the few defensive players to win the NFL MVP. He was a 7 time first-team all-pro [5 with Giants].

For some reason, the NFL has all-but-abandoned their pre-merger history. And, from that all they seem to keep are Lombardi, Butkus and the Colt/Giants overtime game.

Maybe part of that is the lack of film and the fact that football stats, even for positions like QB or RB where they have meaning, don't translate well from the past.

To me, it's a shame. And, guys like Robustelli who were essential to their past, shouldn't be forgotten.
