Teacher accused of airing pornographic videos in class

Said to have put on shows as a 'treat' three times a week

A MARRIED teacher is facing an investigation after a female student complained to the Education Ministry that he had shown pornographic videos during class.

He is also alleged to have asked two girls to go to his home for extra lessons after school.

The school confirmed the complaint and said that it is 'investigating to establish the facts'.

She has since quit the school.

Two of her classmates, whom The Straits Times contacted, alleged their teacher had been airing the videos since March.

They claim that he would turn off the lights and close the door and windows before playing the video clips, which had been downloaded onto his laptop.

He is alleged to have told his students that he wanted them to relax and take their minds off work for a while, and shown clips lasting for up to 45 minutes as a 'treat' at least three times a week.

A male student, 17, said: 'Our class is made up of mainly boys who obviously enjoy the show, but the girls are not so comfortable with it.'

Her mother said in Mandarin: 'I did not want my daughter to be put in a situation where she might be taken advantage of.'

The 45-year-old housewife added: 'No decent teacher would ask students to go to his home, especially if he is a man and they are young girls.'

Michelle also alleged that the teacher offered to give her the answers to the mid-year examinations when she told him that she wanted to quit because she could not manage the subject.

When The Straits Times contacted the teacher, he said he had been given strict instructions by his school not to say anything.
