Have a BS in ECE and an MS in Financial Engg from Stern, mate. You might want to check out the definition of oxymoron on Wikipedia or Webster - the definition is : something (as a concept) that is made up of contradictory or incongruous elements
Isn't contradictory the term you thought I should have used?
Sorry, bro. But, you are wrong. Oxymoron is not a substitute word for a contradiction.
An oxymoron is specifically a FIGURE OF SPEECH. A combination of words, usually two, which are contradictory. Not a long winded concept full of contradictions.
Like: Live Recording, Jumbo Shrimp, Long Shorts, Mud Bath,
Military Intelligence, Fresh Frozen Meat/Fish/etc., or even say Gonzo Actress.
I have family members that collect these things.
And, I used to correcting Stern people on semantics. My last assistant was getting her masters in international finance [or something] there under scholarship, iirc. I used to drive her nuts.
got respect for ya for going through Math as a form of degree - major or minor.
Honestly, I deserve no respect for it. I gave up on the harder major, Physics, when I found I couldn't get a job without at least a masters. I was sick of school at the time.
The difference between the math a physics person took and a math major was two courses.
My "joke" I tell about it is that I chose it because it was the only major that didn't require papers or labs.
Math is very, very easy for me. My mind is all logic and patterns. But, I don't like it much at all.
And, I drive people around me nuts because I see patterns in EVERYTHING. Like, my cousins is spelling the name of the street he was living on to me letter by letter R,E,M,S,E,N and I retort T,E,O [which would be the next letters in the series/sequence].
I really wanted to major in history, I got a "5" on the American History AP in 1978, but the folks were dead set against it.
