What they're talking about is the actual newspaper being delivered/buying. The actual newsprint is dying, yes. The actual companies are undergoing a significant rebirth, yes.
And go ahead and write one. I probably won't d/l it, but that's just because of the service that I have. freeones.com it seems to me is a site that's almost begging for an app like that.
No, I don't think they're just talking about the actual newspaper being delivered/buying. I think they are talking about actual large companies going bankrupt, people losing their jobs, content not being created, stories not being covered, people not being hired.
The media is full of dire chicken-little prophesies that are overblown, but the death of many magazines and newspapers (large, medium, and small, local, national, and international) probably isn't one of them.
I haven't written code since taking a high school computer class and I don't see myself taking it up as a hobby any time soon. If I was sitting on a bunch of porn content and felt like making money, I would probably hire somebody to do it for me though. I like the "HBO Go" app. I could see making something similar with a pay-per-view approach if I did have the content though.
