You make a good point. Remember though, the grade I give a movie is an "Overall Rating." If there are five scenes and one of them is great, two are good and two suck, then it's still worth at least 4-6 points. When you factor in how well the movie is shot, if it hits the target audience.

If I like a girl and her scene sucks, the movie gets down-graded. There are Max flicks with 3 girls I love that don't score very well so that kind of flies in the face of your theory.

If you disagree with this way of reviewing, that's great. My reviews and ratings are personal. I'm not trying to make friends with directors or producers, I don't have to keep advertisers and I don't really give points for "effort." If it's hot (and head is always subjective) it scores well. If it's not, then it doesn't.
