Doom is a genius game from day one no doubt. Whaddya think?

Doom 3 was released just a few days ago, but it's already a classic. The sequel to last decade's pioneering 3-D gore-fest Doom has drawn ringing praise from critics for its ghoulish realism; PC Gamer called it "a masterpiece of the art form." This week, the New York Times presented a great-man theory of Doom, crediting the game's creator, id Software co-founder and technical director John Carmack, as the sole force behind its success. An executive vice president of Nvidia told the Times his company designs graphics cards—what the computer uses to display super-realistic images—just to accommodate Carmack's upcoming games. They're that good. "He's a genius, a rare person," the exec gushed.

I can't play it because I have an old ass computer, so I mainly buy games for my PS2- the only game that I get really excited over is each new installment of Grand Theft Auto- with the new one San Andreas ( set in a fictional Cali) coming out in mid October. Only one and a half months

I don't generally care for those first person shoot 'em up games, mostly because I have terrible hand to eye coordination, but I'm tempted to check this one out to see if all the hype is true.

I'm more into the stragegy (figure things out) games, but they tend to not be so spectacular visually.

On the Computer that is all i play- strategy games like Civilation 2 and Age of empires 2, But once I start I find it hard to stop until I win and that can take hours. You ever play either of those Il
