You said nothing about extremists. You said public financing of campaigns to boost third parties. To protect everyone's rights. Who determines who is extreme? You? Your ilk? Me? My ilk? That's the problem when you pitch the rules out the window. Someone always comes along with new ones.

Air time is someone else's money. Forcing radio/ tv/ print to run equal time advertising is stealing money from the owners of that air time. Oh, sure, it's the "people's" airwaves and all that nonsense, but at the end of the day someone is paying for it. But as long as it's not you, you don't care. Which takes us back to spending other people's money.

Here's a better idea. For every left leaning bumper sticker you put on your tent under the bridge, you should be forced to put an equal time sticker to match it. Golly, that'd be fair. Everyone's rights would be protected.

And you're high if you think corporate, or any other type, of influence can be removed. No one follows election financing rules as it is now. Making a bunch of new regs, that will always have loop holes, is just pissing in the wind. But malcontents like you will feel oh, so much better. For a minute. Until you realize that some kids aren't playing by the rules. Wah.
