I downloaded that movie and could only stand to watch the first 15 minutes before I deleted it. Did the acting somehow get better or more tolerable after that?

Ummm, as far as you have let on you aren't even allowed to vote in the US. You don't have a congressman, you are Canadian.
Not saying you don't have dual citizenship but in your line of work and even if you married an American it is next to impossible to come by.

Sorry for getting things back on track here, but I watched the Fighter at work the other night and really enjoyed it. Bale channeled the multi generational Southie drug/ alcohol addict nicely. And the ensemble of codepedent enablers was spot on. I'm not Ebert, but I would love a steak milkshake.

I've watched it a couple of times in the past week and have to agree with Barry. Bale did a great job with this and it couldn't have been an easy role to play. If he doesn't get the Oscar, I'll be a little disappointed.

I like John Hawks as Uncle Tear Drop in Winter's Bone, but I figure Bale is going to win the Oscar.
Marky Mark has got to be sad that he is the only main player in the Fighter that didn't get nominated.

Overall, I liked Winter's Bone a little better than The Fighter, but for Hawks, playing Tear Drop wasn't that much of a stretch. Playing Dicky Ward would have been a real challenge for any actor.
As an aside, I watched The Kids Are All Right a couple of nights ago. I'd like to execute everyone who had anything to do with that movie.
