go to patagonia's web specials and get the das parka while it's 177, it's insulated but actually armored to not leak if you somehow manage to find out canada goose's stuff still starts spitting feathers out if it hits something rough. the light versions of the r3's better than arcteryx's thinass fleece that are warmer than anything else that's not bulky and retarded.

if the retro-x does it for you, i'm on my 3rd, burnt a hole in one and replaced no questions at the store in boston. same windproof, really warm fleece as the mid-90's and i think it's cool-looking but this one's a taste issue-it's no different than an r4 but cheaper and different looking than ll-bean/north face shit that's commodified.

anyhow, just remembered to catch them moving some seasonal stuff which happens 2-3 times a year where they're moving stock that's not just the schwag that's unsellable or near what kind of money the das is worth for no layers, rips, clips into their pants, and generally you're cool from -10 days skiing and the hood and length let you take a digger and not pick slush out of your nut of get your face chapped in wind.stay away from their down insulation stuff, it's toast as soon as a feather shows within a week. that's all, just thought there's 3-4 months of lift-service left depending on location and tolerance for imperfect conditions or just coldass days left and you'd get a few months on the cheap for stuff that i approve of and especially at ems-brand money for something that's going to be swapped out of what their modern version is if your zipper starts to fag out. arcteryx might be a little better at the high end and cloudveil's good for chinese stuff that's cheap enough to chuck when it shits itself, but the fact 177's a better everything-coat than 500 for a canada/arcterx parka a baselayer's all you need to do anything i can think of in the lower 48 and doesn't look retarded if it's 12 degrees and you're downtown.
