2. Subscribers watch your movies.
3. You get paid.

Pretty simple. It's better for consumers because they get to watch on any one of four devices they activate and it's better for studios because they make more money without doing anything more than calling Fedex to pick up a box of DVDs. It's also better for studios because consumers won't have to pirate because it's easy, there's a great selection and it's reasonably priced - just like subscribing to HBO.
