The Canadian Government imposed a levy only on Chinese immigrants starting in 1885. It was $50 in that year, increased to $100 in 1901, and increased once again to $500 in 1904. This xenophobic, racist policy was fuelled by ignorance and greed. It was not until 2006 that the government apologized for this. Shame on them.

Thankfully, Brandon Iron Productions is a more progressive, inclusive organization. I do not believe in Head Taxes. Any woman, Chinese or otherwise, will not be charged a tax for her head.
