There is a looming problem at Texas universities. The rule is that the 10% of each high school's graduates are guaranteed acceptance into the state university system. Unfortunately, the number of kids in that group that apply will soon exceed the number of openings. So at that point it will be impossible to gain admittance by merit, and the only way in is to move to a school with stupid kids for your senior year.

This needs to change but the South Texas anti-education lobby may be hard to work around.
