I bought a "fifty-one" brand e-cigarette last week. The kit comes with the equivalent of a Marlboro Light nicotine dose. I can get the refill oil for @ 10.00/month mixed upwards to match my preferred brand and of course the battery is rechargeable. So far I am pretty impressed.

I've been trying to set the SO up with one. There's a company not far away that makes them. Might give her another push this week.

I've been back on the gum for a week. Should I invest in one?

I keep hearing stories about people who get those e-cigs that are doing stupid shit like flicking them out their car windows or dropping them into an unfinished drink out of habit from smoking regular ciggarettes.

This is exactly what I'm afraid of, like Saturday night around closing time.

I've been using Blu e-cigs for a while now. Decent nicotine fix and they have different flavors in their stock cartridges.

I only paid 40 bucks for mine- so shop around and don't hesitate to jew the guy down- there is a huge markup on these things. You can also buy the "oil" in varying flavors and nicotine strengths. I got this stuff now that is identical to a camel filter in flavor and strength.

Did you know the tobacco industry has attempted a "smokeless" cigarette twice before?

You can look at the links but to sum it up they had a carbon heating element at the tip and pretty much passed hot air through a nicotine capsule.

I have smoked the Eclipse and it tasted a bit like smoking a burning cabbage might taste...

Smoking one was weird, you couldn't feel anything when you inhaled but you could exhale a HUGE cloud of steam.


EDIT: the marketing around these products is especially interesting as they were billed as "safe" cigarettes.

The e-cig sounds mostly like a mini-vaporizer. I used a vaporizer to smoke pot back in the day. I liked it for smoking cheap brick weed that had a harsh smoke but if I had some well grown and properly dried/cured weed then the vaporizer was lacking, at least on the smoking and flavor experience compared to bong hits or smoking with a pipe. I can't imagine what kind of difference the e-cig makes compared to smoking reconstituted tobacco like cigarettes.

I was thinking the same about vaporizers. It was cool and everything, but there was "something" missing. Then we took it to friends who live up in the mountains. These are some pipe- hittin motherfuckers. They didn't like it because there was no smoke. Literally. That they didn't feel smoke in their lungs, so it took something away from the experience. I wonder if the same is why e- cigs haven't really caught on.

Cheaper, no smell, no smoke, you can smoke iside. A product like this should change the world. But it hasn't. And that kind of fascinates me.

I smoke hand-rolled cigarettes, about 10-15 a day. Can't imagine using some electronic device instead.

I smoked those for the longest time, when I was smoking all the time. These days, I'm smoking for two or three weeks then off on the gum for a month.

Damn, I thought this was a way to help quit smoking. I have tried to quit smoking on several occasions. The longest I can usually go is about 10 days. I have cut down from a pack to less than 5 cigs a day. Some times I'll go days at a time without a smoke but then I may chain smoke 3 cigarettes in a row on another day. It's a horrible habit and I can't stand it.

I smoked for 16 years (quit when i was 32). I was just fucking so done with it. It was a month before they changed all the laws anyways , banning smoking in bars and all that shit. I can't imagine smoking now, insofar as you can't fucking light up anywhere anymore.
