Ditto. It's a completely different instrument...it serves a different function. It's funny how guitarists make the easiest riffs look like they're tearing out their soul to play, but a good bassist makes the most complicated lines look like it's a walk in the park.

This is very true. I tried to pick it up a few years ago myself, thinking it would be as easy as the guitar, but I discovered otherwise.

I tried to teach several women to play years ago and they always ran into the same problem: their hands/fingers were not really strong enough and were too small. Good bass players have very strong hands. Steve Harris from Iron Maiden probably has a stonger grip than the big spooks in the NFL.
