You should always be wearing boots when hiking anyway!

But yeah..if you leave them alone, they will likely leave yo alone. Most snakes are solitary, skittish creatures..esp around humans (and this is coming from someone who has been bitten by snakes a million times and was almost killed by a 20 foot long Burmese Python!). Wear good boots,tuck your pants into them, watch where you walk and you will be fine.
