Didn't you know? Chuck is using time travel for his dog. He has been sending dogs back for a few years now. I can see why you might have missed this.

What he has been doing is attempting to assemble the absolute greatest dog sled team imaginable. When he is through with the research it's estimated that Chuck's dog team will be able to finish the Iditarod in negative time!

He is going to use the special dogs and the flux capacitors to finish the race before it even starts.
