I have a brand new Dell 7100 with 1.5 terabyte hard drive and my download speed went from 2.5 on a 3.0 dsl to 1.4. I have been reading on the web that this is a Windows 7 issue. Anybody know ?

DSL is kinda iffy sometimes....have you recently installed any updates??? You may want to check with Dell since they may have put out some new firmware.

They sent me a new modem but it didn't help. Now they are dispatching a line man because my telephone lines aren't supporting more than a meg of speed. Looks like a storm or maybe some badly done phone repair a month ago might be the culprit. I will update. I had to get pretty testy with them a few days ago to get anything done. Was on the verge of going from AT&T to cable.

Did they replace the NID on your house? When I first got DSL I had problems with very low speed and connection drops. I had a NID with some type of remote feedback/test circuit in it that was faulty. I jumped the NID out of the line and connection was golden.

and did you stress to them that you are probably one good flu season away from not being part of the customer base anymore?.

@Fiend- that may be exactly what the problem is. I didn't have a lot of confidence in the dude that showed up to work on the phone a while back. He had a cowboy hat, boots , talked like Gomer Pyle and didn't want to have to crawl under the house.
