I'm not one to blow the horn (or any other part) for the Vancouver Police Department, but, earlier this year I met a Vancouver cop who walks the beat on the DTES (Downtown Eastside), after my girlfriend was severely beaten up on the street. The cop is known on the street as the Dragon Lady, but in fact, she was quite nice and sympathetic.

The creep that beat my girlfriend up got three years in the can.
