It seems the reason their politics steer to the right of you is they consider economic issues more important than social issues.

See, all your big examples are social issues. Most Libertarians I've come across would agree with you on those issues. But, they vote Republican because they care more about economic issues. You don't want government in your social life. Me (and most Libertarians I've come across) are more concerned about keeping government out of our business life.

Rebpulicans = economic Libertarians, social statists
Democrats = social Libertarians, economic statists

To put it over-simplified, that is.
