Progressives are all for protecting personal liberties. Libertarians vote Republican, and side with the "Christian" conservatives. But, you will lie about that.

Big government, higher taxes, and fewer personal freedoms may not be what every Progressive politician is about, but they are the consequences (intentional or unintentional) of how they govern and the sheer number of laws they make.

Progressives protect liberties? You mean like my liberty to not have to buy health insurance, or my liberty to not have a phone call listened to by a government worker, or even my liberty to buy a happy meal with a toy inside?

I can't quite seem to glean what exactly your definition of liberty is, so I will try to explain mine. Liberty to me means making decisions for myself, without government input, and taking responsibility for what ever consequences may arise from that decision.

We've been traveling down this Progressive road since Bush the elder, even longer really, and I just don't see that it's working at all. Deficits and debt keep getting larger and larger. Rules for businesses keep getting more complex, expensive, and I fear this trend will continue until only the largest monopoly style businesses will be able to afford to operate.

DARPAnet and GPS were created and installed by the military and they were created with military intentions in mind until the private sector brought it to the consumer. TV and telecommunications were pioneered and built by private industry. Henry Ford was one of the earliest and biggest supporters responsible for road and highway development in this country and he didn't work for the government either.

Why am I not surprised that a progressive would stoop to name calling when confronted with dissent? You forgot your catch alls of racist and homophobe by the way.
