Oh, fer fuck's sake Berry: Aside from Wellstone & Carnahan there's not been a decent pol plane peturburance since Hale Boggs and company pulled a pre-Skynnard Skynnard.
Now ask yourself something and be honest:
I'll assume, arguendo, that you could name Messers Van Zandt, Holly, et al, but didja really know who Wellstone, Carnahan or Boggs were before you read the sidebar article?

I wasn't calling anyone out, or really even making much of a stab at humor. It was the big story of the day, which I followed off and on all day from the beginning because I couldn't sleep this morning. ^^^ You do know that was overturned because the prosecution intentionally withheld evidence?
Any way I don't see much difference between Stevens political career and say Byrds. Both were progressive big pork barrel spenders.

Yep, and OJ didn't murder that coke whore. Guy was brought down for a deck. Now certainly there were other payoffs we didn't hear about, but a fucking deck?? It is way cheaper than I thought to purchase Congress people.

His guilty verdict was overturned. The prosecution did commit fraud in presenting its case. They were desperate to get a guilty verdict before the elections. But was he actually guilty? Probably, I haven't reviewed any of the evidence.
This isn't just a Republican problem, it runs through the Democrats ranks as well. I call it Career Politician Syndrome. Too many years in power causes the brain of said pol to believe the rules of ordinary peons don't really apply to themselves. There is only one known cure, term limits.
