No doubt they learned most of it from watching what Apple did. But, they've got it together nontheless. I remember a Walt Mossberg column where he said Windows 7 is now as good as Mac OS. He made a big deal saying Microsoft's operating system nightmare is now over.

Anonymous Unregistered	The latest laptop came with Vista with the option to upgrade to 7. Never had the need. I don't know what everyone was complaining about.

Like Fat said, when it came out there was things people had trouble with. Vista greatly increased the hardware necessary and that wasn't clear from the marketing. You bought a new computer, so that didn't matter to you. But, for people upgrading their current computer... UAC was annoying. They changed how sharing was done and everybody had to refigure that out. Windows 7 just has the UI organized a little better. Fewer clicks to get where you're going in a few places. Like now, in the taskbar you can right click on an icon and choose "Pin to taskbar". After you do that, even after you close the application, the icon is still in the task bar. And, you can just click on that icon to re-open the application. It's just easier than the old Quick Launch thing XP had. Several things like that. But, it's not night and day. You will lose at least several hours of productivity and maybe more if you upgrade. Your next laptop will come with Windows 7 installed. Just upgrade then probably. Trying to stay current on technology these days is a waste of time and money.
