Anyway, $50 is easy to do -- appetizer or salad around $10, entree for $30, a beverage (soft drinks at $5, wine $7 and up per glass, more if you spring for the bottle), and dessert. Kapow! You're well past $50. Tax in New York will be 8.75% on the meal. Now add 15-20% gratuity. My experience in New York has been that if you get away for less than $75 a head, you got lucky.
