Yes Starblazers is anime. Its probably the first mainstream anime that was popular in the united states. Although, Starblazers is the name of the dubbed and edited for America version of Japan's "Space Battleship Yamato" . Starblazer was heavily edited to remove more adult oriented material/concepts and to take it down to a more American kid friendly cartoon concept. IIRC, the most editing revolved around violence and murder in the show and some small parts of personal relationships of the main characters on the Argus.
