pretty much anything goes in japan.they have some funny ideas of what you can do with live eels and fake tentacles on film.the round eye anime style came from them being influenced by early disney stuff.the white skin is because they have pretty pale skin.hitler teamed up with them because he considered them to be the white men of the east.
