I still don't understand but I vote craigslist. Just heard a radio piece on CBC about a guy living for a year off craigslist. Like asking to be a adopted for a day for thanksgiving gave him tons of results.

Anyway one of the biggest pitfalls researchers have found about craiglist is that you may be able to trade a broom handle for a wheel of cheese but you also end up having to hear all about why that person wants to trade their wheel of cheese. There is an emotional toll. The wheel of cheese might need to be traded because someone in the family has cancer, and so on. Really depressing stories.


What I am getting at is that if you do business on craigslist it ends up being a bit more than a wheel of cheese and a broom handle.

I bet Brandon Iron has heard hundreds of crazy "this isn't usually how I am but..." kinds of stories.


EDIT: I just realized how silly this sounded. Substitute broom handles and wheels of cheese for air conditioners and bookshelves.

Exactly. Most times its a pain in the ass. I have a box spring listed in the "free" section right now and everyone is writing their life stories, how they got kicked out of an apartment and are just starting over or someone else who had bed bugs and had to throw their bed set out... Whatevs, spare me the drama and pick the thing up.

I never browse craigslist but I just looked at Tony's link under adult jobs.

I might be showing my ignorance here but there are an awful lot of ads for "drivers" that pay quite a bit of money comparatively. Is "driver" code for something?

I like CraigsList. I have bought stuff through their ads, and sold a junk car and parts with them too. Cash transactions, no giving Ebay a cut or going through PayPal.

I don't care about people's stories. Only reason to care is that the more desperate the story, the more you charge or less you offer. Fuck em, everybody got misery, you aint special.

I have a hard time believing Elaborator/Gunker doesn't know what a wheel of cheese is. For Christ's sake, it is a unit of measure.

CL hookers don't seem as desperate as whores on the stroll. Typically a CL whore does this more as a job than as a way to keep Cleotis in crystal. Most have cellphones, a car, a place to live and/ or an incall. Not saying a CL whore is better adjusted or anything. A whore is still a whore.

3. CL/ Backpage "Providers"

These people think so. I don't think it is standardized.
